Georgia had the largest numerical increase in African American population growth between 2006 and 2007 (84,000), with Texas coming in a distant second (62,000). This is mostly due to the mass Black migration to the Atlanta metropolitan area bringing Georgia to 4th place in Black population. Although it may currently rank in 4th place it is actually tied for second place along with Texas and Florida because all three states have population around 3 million.
